ROUND ROCK, Texas – The Purdue Boilermakers defeated the Baylor Bears, 6-5, in walkoff fashion on Saturday afternoon. SS Westin Boyle and 1B CJ Richmond combined for five hits and five RBIs as the Boilermakers scored six unanswered in game three of the 2026 Round Rock Classic at Dell Diamond.
Baylor jumped out to an early lead with a run in the top of the first. 2B Pearson Riebock drew a walk then nabbed second to move into scoring position. After working a full count, RF Brady Janusek drove a single through the right side and Riebock came around to score for a 1-0 advantage.
The Bears tacked on another run in the fourth inning. CF Ty Johnson singled on the first pitch of the frame and later stole a bag. Freshman 3B Brytton Clements traded places with Johnson belting a double to left field. Clements’ first RBI and extra-base hit of his college career extended the lead to 2-0.
The top half of the fifth saw the Bears plate three more runs. SS Travis Sanders and Riebock started things off with a double and a single, respectively. Later, a LHP Zach Erdman wild pitch allowed Sanders to score and Riebock moved to third. Johnson dropped a bunt down that sent Riebock home and C Brayden Buchanan capped off the inning with his RBI double to right. Baylor led 5-0 entering the bottom of the fifth.
In his second start of the season, Baylor LHP Ethan Calder held Purdue scoreless on just four hits while walking two and striking out five in 5.0 IP. The left-hander became the sixth starting pitcher in Round Rock Classic history to toss 5.0 shutout innings. Calder has yet to allow a run or an extra-base hit through 8.2 IP this year.
Purdue got in on the action with a trio of runs in the bottom of the sixth. SS Westin Boyle and 3B Sam Flores got aboard with singles, setting up 1B CJ Richmond’s three-run homer. The senior’s 404-foot home run cut the Boilermaker deficit to two.
An inning later, Purdue put two on with base hits from CF Brandon Rogers and Boyle. The Boilermakers then tied the ball game at five apiece behind back-to-back RBI singles from Flores and Richmond.
Rogers led off for the Boilermakers in the bottom of the ninth. The centerfielder got aboard with a bunt single and advanced a station on LF Quincy Malbrough’s sacrifice bunt. Boyle came to the plate with Rogers in scoring position. The freshman hit the first pitch he saw back up the middle sending Rogers around to score as the Boilermakers took game three of the 2026 Round Rock Classic, 6-5.
