Norton homers for Crimson Tide in win
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Brennen Norton homered and Riley Quick combined with
four Alabama Crimson Tide relievers to shut out the NC State Wolfpack 4-0 on Saturday
from VyStar Ballpark.
Quick (2-0) ceded only one hit in his 4.0 innings, striking out four against one walk.
Matthew Heiberger, Hagan Banks, Connor Ball and Carson Ozmer then got the final
15 outs, yielding only two hits in the process.
Will Hodo led off a scoreless second with a single against NC State (3-3) starter Heath
Andrews (1-1). Following a strikeout, Kade Snell notched a base hit before Will
Plattner’s RBI double brought home Hodo for the game’s first run.
In the fourth, Alabama (7-0) went up 2-0 when Norton went yard.
Snell singled with one out in the sixth. A fielder’s choice bumped him to second before
Richie Bonomolo Jr.’s RBI base knock made it 3-0.
The Crimson Tide added one more in the seventh. Justin Lebron and Coleman Mizell
each singled to begin the inning. Lebron advanced to third on a fly out before scoring on
a wild pitch to set the final margin at 4-0.
