ROUND ROCK, Texas – The No. 11 Oregon State Beavers captured a 3-1 victory over the Baylor Bears in game two of the 2026 Round Rock Classic. The Beavers plated two runs in the top of the ninth and struck out 21 batters to seal the win on Friday night at Dell Diamond.

Neither team had a man reach third base until the sixth inning. With the game scoreless, Beavers CF Nyan Hayes singled on the first pitch of the frame. Oregon State Head Coach Mitch Canham went to his bench, and it paid off. Bryce Hubbard came in to pinch-hit and singled to put men on the corners.

C Jacob Galloway fell behind in the count 0-2 and fouled off a total of eight pitches before the ninth pitch of his plate appearance was lifted to deep center field for a sacrifice fly that gave Oregon State a 1-0 advantage.

Oregon State RHP Dax Whitney continued his brilliance after the run support. He struck out the home-half of the sixth and came back out for the seventh. After striking out his 17th batter to begin the inning, Oregon State RF Easton Talt made one of the all-time great plays in Round Rock Classic history.

LF Hunter Snow lifted a high fly ball to deep right field. Talt timed his jump and made sure there was no snowfall by robbing a home run.

Baylor did not go quietly. After Whitney exited the game, the Bears scratched a run across to tie the game in the eighth inning. JJ Kennett was hit by a pitch before a one-out double from Travis Sanders evened the score at one apiece.

The Beavers loaded the bases in the top of the ninth via two walks and a hit batsman. With two down, Talt poked a single into left field that scored two and gave Oregon State a 3-1 edge.

RHP Albert Roblez came out of the bullpen in the ninth and retired the side in order to give the Beavers a 3-1 victory in game two of the Round Rock Classic.

Whitney rewrote the Round Rock Classic record book after his start on Friday night. The sophomore struck out 17 batters (tying the Oregon State program record) in 7.0 IP for a 21.86 K/9 ratio, which breaks the previous record set by RHP Paul Skenes of LSU (16.50, 2023).
