LSU cruises past UCF, wins Live Like Lou Jax CBC

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Cade Arrambide homered as the LSU Tigers cruised to a 11-0

victory Sunday over the UCF Knights to win the Live Like Lou Jacksonville College

Baseball Classic from VyStar Ballpark.

LSU (8-0) took a lead they would not relinquish in the third. UCF (4-3) starter Camden

Wicker (0-1) hit Derek Curiel with a pitch to start the third. After Curiel advanced to

second on a wild pitch, he scored on Jake Brown’s RBI single. Steven Milam singled

and Arrambide was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Seth Dardar lofted a sacrifice fly for

the inning’s second run and Brayden Simpson walked to reload the bases. A balk

forced in Milam to make it 3-0.

The Tigers put things out of reach in the fifth. Milam led off with a triple and then

Arrambide blasted a two-run shot. Back-to-back walks to Dardar and Simpson led to a

sacrifice bunt that put runners on second and third. A Trent Caraway sacrifice fly plated

Dardar. Curiel added an RBI single to add to the advantage at 7-0.

Simpson and Mason Braun each singled prior to a Caraway walk to load the bases in

the seventh. Curiel drilled a two-run double and Brown tacked on a two-run base hit to

set the final margin at 11-0.

LSU starter William Schmidt (2-0) earned the win with 5.0 shutout innings, striking out

seven against just one walk and three hits allowed.
