ROUND ROCK, Texas - The University of Oklahoma claimed the 2025 Karbach Round Rock Classic title with a thrilling 5-4 extra-inning victory over No. 2 Virginia, finishing the tournament 3-0 and staying perfect on the season.

Sophomore Cameron Johnson started for Oklahoma, his second appearance of the year. The left-hander faced early pressure but exited after three innings, allowing three runs on five hits with one walk and five strikeouts.

Virginia threatened in the first inning when juniors Henry Godbout singled and Chris Arroyo walked, putting runners on second and third. Johnson escaped with a strikeout, stranding both. The Cavaliers struck in the second as junior Aidan Teel singled, and senior Trey Wells was hit by a pitch. Junior Harrison Didawick’s swinging bunt forced an errant throw by Oklahoma senior catcher Scott Mudler, scoring Teel. Junior Luke Hanson followed with a single, driving in Didawick and Wells to make it 3-0.

Sophomore Gavyn Jones relieved Johnson in the fourth, providing 2 1/3 hitless innings with one strikeout. Senior James Hitt, freshman Michael Catalano, and sophomore Jason Bodin also pitched for Oklahoma, with Hitt striking out two in 1 1/3 innings.

For Virginia, freshman Tomas Valincius delivered a strong start, carrying a no-hitter into the fourth and finishing with six innings, three runs, five hits, and six strikeouts.

Oklahoma broke through in the fourth, stringing together hits to score. In the fifth, freshman Kyle Branch singled, and Mudler doubled him home. After a sacrifice bunt and strikeout, sophomore Jason Walk doubled down the left-field line, scoring Mudler to tie the game at 3.

The Sooners took their first lead in the seventh. Branch doubled, advanced on a groundout, and scored on junior Dayton Tockey’s pinch-hit single, making it 4-3. Virginia answered in the bottom half, tying it at 4 on senior Jacob Ference’s walk, a wild pitch, and a sacrifice fly by Wells.

The game went into extras, tied 4-4. Senior Dylan Crooks and freshman Jaden Barfield combined for four scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and striking out four. In the 12th, junior Dawson Willis laid down a perfect bunt to third, scoring junior Dason Harris for the walk-off win.

The game set a Round Rock Classic record for longest in innings (12) and time. Oklahoma (6-0) returns home to face Texas Southern University on Tuesday at 4 p.m., while Virginia (3-3) hosts Virginia Military Tech in a midweek matchup.

Cameron Johnson's five strikeouts in just three innings is no small feat, especially against a ranked Virginia squad. Oklahoma's bullpen held on for that 5-4 extra-inning win, and I've been tracking how these early-season tournaments shape playoff rotations. https://facefusion.pro
