Sophomore Gavyn Jones relieved Johnson in the fourth, providing 2 1/3 hitless innings with one strikeout. Senior James Hitt, freshman Michael Catalano, and sophomore Jason Bodin also pitched for Oklahoma, with Hitt striking out two in 1 1/3 innings.

For Virginia, freshman Tomas Valincius delivered a strong start, carrying a no-hitter into the fourth and finishing with six innings, three runs, five hits, and six strikeouts.

Oklahoma broke through in the fourth, stringing together hits to score. In the fifth, freshman Kyle Branch singled, and Mudler doubled him home. After a sacrifice bunt and strikeout, sophomore Jason Walk doubled down the left-field line, scoring Mudler to tie the game at 3.

The Sooners took their first lead in the seventh. Branch doubled, advanced on a groundout, and scored on junior Dayton Tockey’s pinch-hit single, making it 4-3. Virginia answered in the bottom half, tying it at 4 on senior Jacob Ference’s walk, a wild pitch, and a sacrifice fly by Wells.

The game went into extras, tied 4-4. Senior Dylan Crooks and freshman Jaden Barfield combined for four scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and striking out four. In the 12th, junior Dawson Willis laid down a perfect bunt to third, scoring junior Dason Harris for the walk-off win.
