COASTAL CAROLINA WINS WILD GAME IN 11 INNINGS
Chanticleers rally from 5-0 hole to beat Ohio State 10-8
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Blake Barthol crushed a three-run home run and the Coastal
Carolina Chanticleers outlasted the Ohio State Buckeyes 10-8 in 11 innings on Saturday
from VyStar Ballpark.
With the score tied at eight, Blagen Pado doubled to lead off against Ohio State (1-4)
reliever Douglas Bauer (0-1). A sacrifice bunt advanced Pado to third and and then
Cade Bodine singled to give Coastal Carolina (5-1) the lead. After a Barthol single,
Colby Thorndyke’s base hit plated Bodine to make it 10-8.
The Buckeyes (1-4) initially opened the scoring in the second. Trey Lipsey walked, and
following a fly out, an error on a pickoff attempt bumped him to second base. Mason
Eckelman plated the game’s first run with an RBI triple. In the ensuing at-bat, Coastal
Carolina starter Cameron Flukey made a terrific glove pick on a grounder back to the
mound to nab Eckelman at the plate. Nick Giamarusti, who had reached first on the
play, stole second, and then scored from there on a wild pitch to make it 2-0. Back-to-
back walks by Will Carpenter and Reggie Bussey brought up Matthew Graveline,
who blasted a three-run home run to widen the gap to 5-0.
The Chanticleers got on the board in the fourth. Dean Mihos led off the inning with a
base hit. Three batters later, a Thorndyke single coupled with an error allowed Mihos to
score all the way from first.
Freddy Rodriguez earned a one-out walk in the fifth. After a pop out, he scored from
first on Wells Sykes’ double to cut the Coastal Carolina deficit to 5-2.
In the seventh, Rodriguez walked with one out and Ty Dooley doubled. After a
strikeout, Rodriguez scampered home on a passed ball. Mihos walked and Bodine
cashed in Dooley with an RBI single to pull the Chanticleers within 5-4. Barthol’s three-
run bomb then catapulted Coastal Carolina to a 7-5 advantage.
The Chanticleers added a run in the eighth. Walker Mitchell singled with one out.
Following a strikeout, Mitchell stole second and Dooley walked. Pinch-hitter Domenico
Tozzi came through with an RBI base hit to increase the lead to 8-5.
Ohio State rallied back in the ninth inning. Giamarusti led off the inning with a base hit.
Carpenter collected an infield single and then Bussey’s bunt single loaded the bases
with no one out. After a strikeout, Tyler Pettorini cleared the bases and tied the game
with a double down the right field line, but Pettorini was thrown out at third base trying to
stretch it into a triple.
Ryan Lynch (1-0) earned the win for the Chanticleers with 2.0 innings of relief. Scott
Doran tossed a scoreless bottom of the 11th to earn his first career save.

The way you explained the topic was very clear and helpful, especially in breaking down the flow and momentum so readers can follow along easily. While reading, I was reminded of a similar analysis I had seen mentioned on samedaydiplomas, where discussions also emphasized clarity and context when presenting performance highlights and takeaways in a straightforward manner.I recently came across a similar discussion on a review blog, and it offered an interesting perspective as well.
