LIVE LIKE LOU FOUNDATION NAMED TITLE SPONSOR FOR JAX COLLEGE BASEBALL CLASSIC

Jacksonville, Fla. – Peak Events, LLC, is proud to announce that its premiere early-season tournament at VyStar Ballpark is now dubbed the Live Like Lou Jax College Baseball Classic, reflecting a new multi-year partnership with the Live Like Lou Foundation. The tournament is entering its third year at the home of the Miami Marlins’ Triple-A affiliate, the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp.

The 2026 event will be held Feb. 20–22, 2026. The participating teams will be unveiled on Sept. 3, 2025.

The Live Like Lou Foundation, named after Major League Baseball Hall of Famer Lou Gehrig, is a national nonprofit with a vision to leave ALS better than we found it. Inspired by Gehrig’s example of courage, determination, and gratitude, Live Like Lou supports people living with ALS through volunteer service, financial grants, and college scholarships for dependents in ALS families; funds early-career scientists studying ALS; and raises national awareness for Lou Gehrig’s disease. The foundation honors Lou’s legacy as we inspire hope for a world where ALS is no longer fatal. Learn more at livelikelou.org.

Honoring Gehrig's legacy, the Live Like Lou Foundation is launching an effort to impact thousands of families living with ALS through this Jax College Baseball Classic sponsorship.

“Lou Gehrig’s legacy took shape as a college baseball player at Columbia. We’re honored to bring together outstanding college athletes in support of a meaningful cause that makes a lasting impact,” Wendy Faust, Executive Director of the Live Like Lou Foundation, said. “We believe in the power of sports to build awareness and inspire action. By supporting the Jax College Baseball Classic, we aim to honor Lou Gehrig’s courageous spirit and rally communities to help leave ALS better than we found it.”

In Jacksonville, an estimated 150 people are living with ALS, each surrounded by spouses, children, parents, and loved ones who also feel the full impact of this disease. The high cost of care — often $200,000 or more annually — compounds the strain and places lasting demands on families. The Live Like Lou Foundation is responding by serving both people with ALS and their loved ones. More than two dozen ALS families in the community are engaged in Live Like Lou’s volunteer program, and the foundation is proud to recognize both a scholarship recipient and a Quality-of-Life Grant recipient from the Jacksonville area. These efforts reflect the foundation’s commitment to offering practical support and lasting encouragement for families facing the challenges of ALS. “Partnering with the Live Like Lou Foundation is a perfect fit for Peak Events and this tournament,” said Nathan Wooldrige, Peak Events LLC Vice President. “We work to present the best college baseball experiences in the nation for student-athletes, coaches, and fans. The foundation honors the legacy of one of the game’s best players. Together, we can impact even more families living with ALS.”

In 2025, the tournament’s field included Alabama, Coastal Carolina, NC State, and Ohio State. Alabama earned the Classic’s championship belt, winning all three of its games in a round-robin format. The Crimson Tide completed the weekend by overcoming a 10-run deficit to the Buckeyes, capped by a Will Hodo walk-off home run in the bottom of the 9th inning.

Advance 2026 Live Like Lou Jax College Baseball Classic tickets will be available soon at livelikeloujaxcbc.com. Seats are sold as “day tickets,” which include both games played on the same day, with a portion of all purchased tickets supporting the Live Like Lou Foundation.
