ROUND ROCK, Texas – The Purdue Boilermakers tallied their first win of the 2026 season over a ranked opponent after defeating the No. 11 Oregon State Beavers, 5-2 on Sunday at Dell Diamond. Purdue’s four-run fifth inning and lights-out pitching capped off their 2-1 record at the 2026 Round Rock Classic.
1B CJ Richmond continued to be the spark plug for the Boilermaker offense, leading off the second with a double to left center. Richmond moved to third on a wild pitch and then came home on 2B Dylan Drake’s groundout. Purdue led 1-0.
The Beavers responded with a pair of runs in the bottom half of the second. CF Nyan Hayes drew a walk and 3B Cooper Vance sent him to third with a base hit. 1B Jacob Krieg drove Hayes in with a groundout, tying the game at one. LF Josh Proctor then singled on a 3-1 changeup and Vance scored for a 2-1 Oregon State advantage.
After trading zeroes through the third and fourth innings, Purdue plated four runs in the top of the fifth. Drake and RF Sergio DeCello got aboard via a single and a walk, respectively. CF Brandon Rogers and LF Eli Anderson then recorded back-to-back singles as Rogers drove in one and Anderson drove in two baserunners to take the lead. With Anderson on third, SS Westin Boyle grounded out, sending Anderson home and extending their lead to 5-2.
Purdue starting pitcher LHP Jarvis Evans threw 6.1 IP, holding the Beavers to two runs and three hits, while striking out three.
The Boilermaker bullpen of RHP Austin Klug, LHP Trevor Kester-Johnson and RHP Jake Kramer allowed just one hit without walking a batter en route to 5-2 victory. Purdue closed the 2026 Round Rock Classic with a 2-1 record, moving to 4-3 overall.
