The Frisco College Baseball Classic is an early season NCAA Div I college baseball tournament that takes place annually on the 3rd weekend of the college baseball season at RoughRiders Ballpark in Frisco, Texas. The event hosts 4 premier teams in a round robin format over 3 days resulting in 2 games per day for a total of 6 games. The Frisco Classic was built on providing the best tournament experience for both the attending fans and teams second only the the College World Series in Omaha. #BestOutsideOfOmaha
The inaugural Frisco College Baseball Classic took place March 3-5, 2017 at then named Dr. Pepper Ballpark located in Frisco, Texas. The inaugural event hosted the Arkansas Razorbacks, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Arizona Wildcats, and the Nebraska Huskers resulting in a total weekend attendance of almost 20,000. Arizona won the weekend going 2 and 1 with wins over Arkansas and Oklahoma State.
The 2nd annual Frisco Classic took place March 2-4, 2018 with the Texas A&M Aggies, Baylor Bears, Cal Golden Bears, and the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. The 2018 event drew a weekend total attendance of 20,796 and set a Frisco Classic single day record of 10,250 on Saturday, March 3 due in large part to the in-state matchup between Texas A&M and Baylor. In unexpected fashion, the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs won the weekend going 2 and 1 with their only loss coming with a 6-1 loss to Baylor on the final day.
The 3rd annual Frisco Classic took place March 3-5, 2019 with the Texas Tech Red Raiders, Nebraska Huskers, Mississippis State Bulldogs, and the Sam Houston State Bearkats. The event saw 2 days of extremely cold and wet weather and unfortunately was forced to cancel the final day due to player safety concerns with the bitter cold temperatures. Despite the weather, the event still drew a weekend attendance of 15,882. Mississippi State won the weekend gong 2 and 0 in their 2 games played missing out on facing only the Huskers of Nebraska.
The 4th annual Frisco Classic was a record setting year that took place Feb 28 - Mar 1, 2020 hosting the Texas A&M Aggies, UCLA Bruins, Oklahoma State Cowboys, and the Illinois Fighting Illini. The 4th annual event saw a Frisco Classic record weekend attendance of 24,780. The Bruins of UCLA coming in undefeated and as one of the top ranked teams in the country won the weekend handily, going 3 and 0. This event proved to be meaningful as it was one of only 4 weeks of baseball that was played during the 2020 College Baseball season due to the COVID-19 worldwide pandemic.
